I cannot turn this vacuum off unless I push the on/off switch with both thumbs! My children cannot use it at all. An elderly person or someone with arthritis could NOT turn this off without assistance. I bought this vacuum to replace a dirt devil that had lasted for 8 years, but had less than fab suction. This one picks up okay - but for the price, I expected more. The filter gets clogged very easily and if you use it to clean up flower petals or small pieces of tissue paper - forget it, it just stops. Not for the crafty family! I used to like Black & Decker. Their products are failing of late and if I hadn't lost my receipt, this vacuum would be back at the store it came from! DON'T buy this one. B & D, are you listening?

I'm actually only posting a review because I'm here to buy another one of these. It does its job fairly well, given that it's a comfortably light (3 lb 1 oz) handheld vac. The suction is adequate to pick up all the usual bits that end up on the floor or carpet throughout a normal day, but if you expect it to be as strong as a full-size vacuum, you're expecting too much from a battery-powered motor.

I bought the CHV1218 over 2 years ago, but the battery is getting geriatric and starts slowing down within about a minute of power-on -- unsurprising for Ni-Cad battery chemistry with (on average) twice-a-day usage for nearly 2.5 years. That's a reasonable lifespan for the battery, and if they let me swap in a new battery and continue using the same appliance, I would. But, modern design calls for bare-minimum engineering, so by the time the battery is dying, many other "hair's-breadth" time-to-failure components are ready to fail as well (bearings, plastic-on-plastic surfaces dependent on friction, plastic hinges that flex).

As others have noted here, B&D really ought to take notice and redesign the power switch. It's VERY hard to switch on/off, and if your thumb is at all wet/greasy, you'll have to clean off your hands first.

Our prior "hand vac" was a Dirt Devil and its battery died in less than 1 year, and its suction was inferior to this model.

I like this unit well enough (except for the power switch) that I'm buying this model again, to replace the prior one (even though it's no longer carried in my local Wal-Mart store, so now I have to order it online).

The product contained everything advertised. I have re-pinned several locks with this kit successfully. There was a minor crack in the lid and I did not contact the vendor about it. There are several tools provided. I already knew how to use most of them. However there is one tool I didn't recognize. The product would be better if there was some instruction or at least a description of the tools. This kit must be intended for someone who is already highly knowledgeable before ordering.

I recently moved into a new house and wanted to change the locks. I got prices for new locksets, and we decided to save some money by having the current ones rekeyed, waiting to buy new ones some other time.

I worked at Home Depot years ago during college, and learned how to rekey locks there - it's a snap - if you don't know how, search YouTube for an instructional video. That's actually exactly what I did, to refresh my memory. (This is a good generic one: [...])

As for the kit, it seems to be decent quality, has all the tools you need, and is insanely cheap next to the "branded" kits. This thing paid for itself within 2 hours (at most) of work, and my locks were rekeyed without having to haul them into a hardware store at 5-10 bucks each.

Our state has a new law that license plate frames cannot obscure the state name at the bottom or the renewal stickers in the upper corners ($100 fine). This frame adds a classy border without covering any of those elements of the plate. It was also easy to install with my small female hands. The hardest part was removing the old screws, since my car is 13 years old. Although my car is sporty with a dark finish, this was the right amount of shimmer to complement the tail light features without looking too distracting against the dark sleek vehicle styling.

Good quality materials, and very stylish.
It is not 100% black out, i would say 60%., but still i am happy with my purchase.

Curtains aren't lined but, in navy, seem to do a good job keeping sunlight out. They are polyester, so not the classiest material. They come with two sashes in case you want to put a peg in the wall and clip the curtains back. I like the way the cloth loops are on the top/back of the curtain and leave material above the loops which is then able to block light out from the top.
FYI- the navy curtains are, in actuality, darker than the navy shown in the picture-- they are true navy (dark), the photo showed more of a classic blue.
Overall, I recommend!
(I ironed them to try to get the creases out (worked ok); they recommend you put them briefly in the drier.)

Love the curtains, the Burgundy color was great, and the quality was probably 8 out of 10. I'm very happy with the purchase. The curtains block out all light. Obviously it comes in a small amount around the edges but if you overlap the curtain with the wall a few inches on top and sides it works great. Probably a 95% reduction in light. I think it does help for heat too, as to the noise reduction I would say it's minimal at best, I couldn't really tell that it did anything for noise.

I had to replace an Asus M3N78 Pro motherboard for my Phenom II X3 720, sigh. Due to this, I was able to compare some features on the current models.

First of all, the MSI motherboard can be less expensive in the long run. every higher end Motherboard has a ATX 12V 4-pin or (4x2) 8-pin dedicated socket for the CPU power plug. Asus uses the 8 pin plug. MSI uses the 4 pin version. Most 8-pin versions can be opened to use the 4-pin connector. Some power supplies have both options. Now, When I bought the Asus motherboard, my power supply had only a four pin 12v plug. So when I bought the unit and was installing it, I found that I had to buy a new power supply as well. I had enough power at 500w, but not the right connections.

Secondly, the input plugs on the MSI have both PS2 keyboard and Mouse plugs. Gamers use wired keyboards and mice for greater control and precision. The Asus unit has one PS2 plug that will work for either, but not both. Important? Probably not unless you have a severe booting problem and your USB ports is not working. It can be handy to have both mouse and keyboard.

Third, There are handy plugins for case cconnectors. You plug in the cables into the connectors, then plug the connectors onto the motherboard ins. It makes things much easier. Now, the USB and ie1394 (firewire connectors are yellow, which matches the pin base colors. The case header pin base is black, but the connector for it is yellow as well, which is confusing. There is a black connector, but it is for another purpose. Not good choices, in my mind.

Lastly, the installation manual for the MSI is very incomplete and somewhat inaccurate. They have number and illustration for the ATX 4x2 8-pin plug and connector in the manual, but they do not use it. I think that a pre-production sample may have used it, since it is referenced in a magazine review, but there is no information about it, just a picture and a number that is not referenced on the diagram. The manual's picture is pretty much detail free. No pictures of helpful on buttons or restart buttons, etc. No installation tips or troubleshooting section either. There are two installation disks, one for Vista and one for XP. A lot more information is on the CD-ROM, but if you have only one computer, print it off BEFORE installing the board and save yourself some trouble.

Oh, the version number of the board is printed in big letters on the MSI board. It is difficult to find out any information about the differences though, including on the internet.

We absolutely love this monitor, 9 months and we're still using it. I love that it comes with two pads and we took full advantage of this option. We used one pad for three months in the bassinet and the other monitor in the pack n play, we found it so easy to move the portable alarm from one pad to the other. We currently have the two pads in the crib and we sleep so soundly knowing that the monitor is there we absolutely love this monitor and we will definitely be using it for the next baby. The only problem we found is that when we have the ceiling fan on the highest speed the monitor mistakes it for the baby and will not go off. We tested is multiple times with the baby in the crib and out of the crib while the fan was on and it didn't go off. This of course was a an easy fix, we just don't use the fan on the highest setting.

I have literally never written a product review of any kind for anything before, and waited to write this review until the product was fully tested. Hope this helps...

I'm a first time parent, and was overly worried about SIDS. Because of this, we purchased an organic mattress, organic mattress pad, and cotton sheets. While these items are reported to greatly reduce the chances of SIDS, how does one sleep even a minute when their baby could stop breathing at any moment?

Enter... the infant movement monitor. Sounded like a great idea! But... expensive. While $100 in the grand scheme of having a healthy baby may seem like nothing, I'm not one to throw away good money on useless junk. However, the reviews seemed positive, and again I was overly worried, so I broke down and made the purchase. My wife and I were skeptical, but I felt it better to error on the side of caution, so made the purchase.

When we received the item, we were pleasantly surprised. Not only does the BabySense V product seem extremely well built, its simplistic design makes it usable by everyone (including non-techie Grandma). There's literally one button that toggles on/off. It makes two beeps when you turn it on to ensure the circuit is complete, and a green light blinks when movement is detected. Simple, fool-proof, and yet so very necessary.

Okay, so infant movement monitors are great. But why this particular model? Many reasons:
1) EMF - no transformers or plugs. Runs on just two 1.5v AA batteries.
2) Two is better than one - Comes with one sensor for the crib, and one for the bassinet (while young). Then the two plug together for use in the crib once your baby grows.
3) Simplistic design - No one will question how to use this. Even has a finger-safe cover for traveling to ensure you don't run your batteries low.
4) LARGE sensors - Minimal risk of your baby squirming out of reach of the sensor
5) No false alarms - Except at the 4am feeding when you might forget to turn it off, but then it pleasantly "ticks" a couple of times as a reminder before sounding the smoke-alarm sounding beeps.

I read the tips & tricks submitted by other users, and have done the following which may have contributed to us having no false alarms:
1) Get a 2'x4' thin sheet of plywood (Lowes sells them) and put on top of the spring board under your crib mattress sensor.
2) Get a full-sized sheet of cardboard (Michaels sells them) for use under your bassinet sensor.
3) Replace the batteries every 3 weeks. I haven't waited for the "low battery" light, which is when others suggested it might false-trip.

I'll admit I haven't tried competing products. But I read enough negative reviews about the Angelcare product to instead try this slightly more expensive product. This is a thoughtfully designed product, and I can't imagine anything being better. I will definitely be buying these for family members that become pregnant. Just listening to my mom share stories about sitting up all night with her hand on my back (since we grew up sleeping on our stomachs in the olden days) to ensure I was breathing is enough to tell me that my 5-6 hour stints of sleep should be appreciated. Highly recommend.

this is the winner. I have fine, somewhat coarse hair. I dont know how to use a blow dryer and really have no sense of how to style hair. I purchased my Clarisonic PRO Deluxe Professional 4-Speed Skin Care System with Spot Therapy Kit, White five (5) months ago directly from Amazon. I REALLY like it, as well as the results. I don't know if it is worth $225, but I haven't found anything else that delivers the same results. Let me start off by saying that it does NOT perform miracles, but I do see results. I have (that is, had) flakey combination dry/T-ozone oily skin. Now, no more flakes, less visible lines and just a generally smooth overall appearance. Again, no miracles, but clearly nicer looking skin. I personally think the level of results that you see depends on the cleanser you use with the Clarisonic. I saw WAY better results using Neutrogena products, than I did using other products. So, finding a good face cleanser for your skin type is definitely key to seeing the best results with the Clarisonic.

I've used the various Sonicare toothbrushes for years and loved the results, which is what attracted me to the Clarisonic. And, yes, Clarisonic has the same EXCELLENT customer service as Sonicare. I was a little hesitant since one reviewer said that Amazon was not an authorized seller. Anyway, after two months of use, my handle was taking forever to charge and then not holding the charge. I called Clarisonic's 800 # for customer service. They didn't even ask me WHERE I purchased it, they just asked for the serial number. They told me that my brush had a full 3-YEAR warranty (that all Clarisonic PROs purchased in 2010 were protected one-year longer than the standard 2-year warranty). They immediately sent me out a FULL replacement via UPS and a pre-paid UPS label to send my defective one back. VERY HAPPY with that level of customer service that is rare these days!

The one thing that I do not like about the handle is that it does NOT hold a charge for very long. And, unless you speed race over your body, there won't be enough charge to do your body and your face at the same time. It certainly does not hold a charge like a Sonicare. So, if you are traveling, you will need to bring the charger.

A few things I noticed about the Clarisonic and some suggestions ...
1. Facial cleanser used determines the results you will see with the Clarisonic. The better the face cleanser for your skin type, the better the results.
2. Take the brush head off after EVERY use and wash the handle and brush good. Leave the brush off to air dry while the handle charges.
3. I usually clean my face for 2-3 cycles of the face cleaning (i.e., I go over my face 2-3 times) because the face cleaning is on a timer and shuts off. (Beeps like the Sonicare to tell you to move to the next section.)
4. If you have bad acne, use caution. You might want to use on one small section to see the results BEFORE you do on your entire face. I noticed that initially it made the acne more obvious. But, after using several times, it actually cleared it up faster and gave an overall smoother appearance/complexion. But, I personally, do not have bad acne ... just an occasional blemish on my forehead or nose (and I noticed it initially ... but not anymore).
5. Worked great on smoothing knees and elbows.

Overall, with the EXCELLENT customer service and GREAT results, I give this product 5 STARS. I just wish it weren't so expensive. Although, the price has come down since I purchased it back in May for $[...].

UPDATE APRIL 2011: In January 2011 my REPLACEMENT HANDLE stopped holding a change AT ALL. It would sit in the charging cradle, show fully charged and the battery would INSTANTLY die when the on button was pressed. Again, I called Clarisonic's 800# and explained my problem (that the handle was not holding a charge). They were very nice, asked for my name (I was already in the system from the previous replacement) and the serial # on the handle. I received my replacement handle and charger via UPS within a week (along with a prepaid label to send the defective/non-working one back). This replacement looks slightly different. The charger plug is now a regular small plug (a definite improvement), not a huge hair dryer type plug (like was on the previous 2 I had) and the writing/font on the handle is a slightly different color. Also, the brush head fits tighter and is a little more difficult to taken on/off (nothing out of the ordinary, but definitely not a loose/easy fit like the first 2). I have been using this latest replacement for almost 2 months with no problems, but the 3-4 month mark is where I had problems on the other 2. I will update this review if this replacement starts to have issues.
